A Night For Green Beauty

A Night For Green Beauty is an annual premiere beauty and shopping event founded by Victoria Fantauzzi and Karen King, co-founders and creators of La Bella Figura one of the leading and most beloved beauty brands in natural beauty. Victoria and Karen saw a need to present non-toxic products, education and the passion behind creators to the public in a fun open forum in an effort to create awareness in an emerging industry. The success of ANFGB has grown over the last three years and has been widely anticipated as "The Beauty Party Of The Year" for fans, retailers, media and participating brands. This is an extraordinary collaboration bringing brands and community together in a spirited and positive environment. We're very proud of our participating brands and sponsors who work collectively to highlight green beauty and fundraise for nonprofits and charities. To learn more please visit our official, A Night For Green Beauty website www.anfgb.com

Enjoy some of our favorite dining, shopping and activities in the Los Angeles area.

Favorite Dining Spots

Gjelina-This busy Venice restaurant has been a favorite of locals and the LBF team since it opened its doors and made even the most hardcore meat eater respect vegetables like never before. The cuisine is contemporary American with an homage to the beauty of California produce. It is a must stop when in LA, but make sure to make a reservation, it’s always bustling! If you’re in no mood to wait you can order from its next door Take-Away for the freshest, yummiest "Fast Food" ever. Gjelina-1429 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice (310) 450 1429 www.gjelina.com

Tavern-Located in Brentwood, Tavern is an elegant spot to meet your friends before heading out to catch a play or a movie. The bar is charming and old fashioned bartender service makes you want to plant yourself right there for a plate of pomme frites, gabbing and people watching. Do not miss the “Snicker Bar” dessert that we sometimes dream about! It is pure heaven disguised as chocolate, we promise. Tavern-11648 San Vicente Blvd., Brentwood (310) 806 6464 www.tavernla.com

Q-If you’re a true sushi aficionado looking for an amazing experience and willing to shell out a pretty penny ($165 per person) you won’t be disappointed with this Omakase only dining experience. Everything is of the highest quality and the fermented tofu is out of this word luscious, flavorful and the service…flawless. Q-521 W 7th Ave., DTLA (213) 261 3479 www.qsushila.com

Scarpetta-We must give mention to this Italian treasure for its genius rendition of simple spaghetti with tomato sauce. A very well-traveled friend of ours couldn’t stop raving about the spaghetti and I thought perhaps she had just landed on earth and discovered pasta. Until, I tried for myself and almost cried, it is that good. The salads and soups are also lovely and delicious. I don’t know what the chef adds to his dishes, but they are comforting, light and keep us coming back for more. Scarpetta-Montage Beverly Hills 225 N Canon Dr., Beverly Hills (310) 860-7970 www.montagebeverlyhills.com

Marix-Come with your most robust pals for the excellent margaritas, shrimp tacos and casual dining experience before dancing the night away in West Hollywood. This is a guaranteed fun spot and if you play your cards right you may run into Jennifer Aniston waiting in line for the bathroom or witness a group of happy diners burst into a cabaret performance right at the table next to yours. A favorite haunt of ours and a must share with best friends. Everyone leaves with smiles. Marix Tex Mex-1108 N Flores St., West Hollywood (323) 656 8800 www.marixtexmex.com

Favorite Shopping

Fred Segal-If you’ve never been to LA before Fred Segal is your ideal shopping destination. An upscale retailer with everything you ever dreamed of and more. The "more" being the little café located inside, perfect for an afternoon cappuccino and even better people watching. We prefer the Fred Segal on Melrose and Crescent Heights for its teeny tiny parking lot, but for you Santa Monica dwellers there is a Fred Segal right off the Promenade. Fred Segal-8118 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood (323) 651 1800 www.fredsegal.com

TENOVERSIX-A truly chic boutique without the stuffiness and all the latest fashion forward finds, we love this place for housing favorites like Vena Cava, Pamela Love Jewelry and Ilia Beauty. You won’t leave empty handed, but you will leave happy. TENOVERSIX-8425 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, (323) 330 9355 www.tenover6.com

Strange Invisible Perfumes-Walk into this sleek and sexy boutique right off of Abbot Kinney and you walk into a world of elegant perfumery done in 'old masters' style with natural botanicals and pure olfactive artistry. Every bottle is more gorgeous than the next and before you know it you will face a conundrum of which bottle to take home. That is not all, Strange Invisible Perfumes creates bath and body products to die for! Step past the front boutique to discover a well curated apothecary in back stocking gems like OdaciteRMS BeautyAlexis Smart Flower Remedies and more luxury products. The staff is ever so informative and friendly and if you’re lucky enough to chat with Akua pay close attention, she knows her stuff! We are especially thrilled to have Strange Invisible Perfumes as a brand participant in A Night For Green Beauty. Strange Invisible Perfumes-1138 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice (310) 314 1505 www.siperfumes.com

The Detox Market-You are not likely to receive a warmer welcome when entering this adorable one stop apothecary shop. Once located in Venice and now in Beverly Hills, the atmosphere of this Los Angeles boutique is warm, fun and educational. The real deal. Owners Valerie Grandury and Romain Gaillard are eco-preneurs without pretense. I remember being lucky enough to visit The Detox Market’s first little pop up inside a boutique in Venice and thinking,  "I hope they open a store” and that they did, as a matter of fact several stores. I may not have discovered the exquisiteness of Kusmi Tea if it weren’t for this sweet place and there are many more natural brands to covet here. The boutique also houses co-founder, Valerie’s own line Odacite, a non-toxic treasure trove of skincare products Valerie began blending herself. Odacite is also a brand participating in A Night For Green Beauty and a treat you won’t want to miss! The Detox Market-8380 Beverly Blvd., Beverly Hills, (323) 782 0421 www.thedetoxmarket.com

Brentwood Country Mart-One of our all time favorite locations for an afternoon of shopping, brunching and juice drinking. Let us count the ways this country mart is unlike what you may think of when you hear the words, “country mart.” First and very importantly it is where we first experienced our first sip of Pressed Juicery. It is located in the courtyard and is so tiny and the first ever location of what is now an inspiring brand of delicious fresh juice we can’t get enough of. When you finish your vanilla almond milk head over to the mart and step inside a string of bungalow styled shops. You are sure to flush over the silky soft t-shirts at James Perse, discover a chic pair of shoes at Jenni Kayne or indulge in delicious body oils and marula based face creams by African Botanics at Space NK. (Another brand we’re highlighting at ANFGB!) Pick up writing journals and a thick stock of thank you cards at Sugarpaper before heading out. Of course, you can’t leave the mart without eating at Farmshop. It’s a staple for us and everything is super fresh and California delicious. Brentwood Country Mart-225 26th St and San Vicente Blvd., Santa Monica www.brentwoodcountrymart.com

Favorite Activities

Franklin Canyon Park-Beverly Hills has a secret and it’s this sprawling 605 acres of trails, greenery and wondrous public park. Yes, there are other parks and canyons where you may run smack dab into all of the health conscious beautiful people, but they are overly crowded and over hyped and you'll never find a decent place to park. Enjoy a nice hike or a picnic by the lake and keep your eyes peeled for colorful wildflowers and exciting wildlife that all make this park their home. Franklin Canyon Park-2600 Franklin Canyon Drive, Beverly Hills

Griffith Park-Home to one of the nation’s largest parks, Griffith Park is where you’ll catch native Angelenos on any given Sunday with or without their families. The Greek Theater, New Zoo, Old Haunted Zoo, Observatory, Merry-Go-Round, Equestrian Trails and plenty more are wonderful popular attractions worth the visit. You can hike up to the Observatory and view the Hollywood sign clear as day or take a blanket and a book and just lay back for a dose of good old California sunshine. Griffith Park-4730 Crystal Springs Dr. Los Feliz

Los Angeles County Museum of Art-Such a super cool museum with a few impressive outdoor installations including the once controversial now endearing, ‘Levitated Mass.’ We love it in the summer when a fun outdoor Jazz series lures a diverse crowd to enjoy music, wine and gawking at one another to the museum grounds. LACMA-5905 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles (323) 857 6000

Venice Beach/Santa Monica-While it’s a tourist trap most certainly, superbly crowded on weekends and bombarded with skateboarders that will run you over when you blink, there is still a fun eccentric atmosphere as you browse this lively beach scene. First time visitors to LA won’t be bored or disappointed taking a long walk from Venice all the way to Santa Monica with the bright blue Pacific Ocean as your guide. If you’re an adult make a game of it by having a cocktail or two at a few favorite happy hour haunts like the rooftop bar at Hotel Erwin in Venice complete with a breathtaking 360 degree view of LA, Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica and if you aren’t too gruff or sandy between the ears the spectacular Huntley Hotel where the view is supreme, the cocktails quite tasty and dreams of staying in California forever. Venice Beach and Santa Monica Beach

Farmers Markets-There is not a lack of a good Farmers Market in LA. With so many neighborhoods there is always a place on any day of the week where you will find organic strawberries and delicious kumquats. Our favorite Farmers Markets are located in Brentwood on Sunday, Mar Vista Farmers Market on Sunday, the Beverly Hills Farmers Market on Sunday and the diverse and foodie favorite Downtown LA Farmers Market on Friday. Come to LA and visit a Farmers Market and learn firsthand from growers all about what makes California produce so great. Make room in your suitcase for a bag of fresh right off the tree Meyer lemons.

Favorite Off The Beaten Path Spots

Brasil Brasil Cultural Center And Capoeira Batuque-In need of the most fun workout of your life? Come to the Cultural Center and take a samba, hip hop or zumba class with the energetic, gorgeous and Queen of dance, Gisella. Once you get into samba or zumba you won’t go back to your old boring treadmill or spinning class because every inch of your body feels the Brazilian beats and you look, oh so darn sexy sweating. Brasil Brasil Cultural Center and Capoeira Batuque-11928 Washington Blvd., Culver City (310) 397 3667

The Dresden-If you appreciate the world of Old School you will fall in love with The Dresden. This is an especially fun place for those that crave a piece of steak and a hearty cocktail. Make a reservation and swoop yourself up a fun date because you will go back in time with Jazz musicians Marty and Elayne who have been performing here for 18 years making The Dresden an institution. They will charm your pants off. Maybe you’ve seen the movie Swingers? Well get that out of your head and don’t be a poser! Have a shrimp cocktail and The Dresden’s signature cocktail, Blood and Sand, but most of all come because you miss good old fashioned supper clubs with live music and for goodness sakes, ask before taking pictures. We mentioned it was old school, right? The Dresden-1760 N Vermont Ave., Los Feliz (323) 665 4294

The Laurel Canyon Country Store-This isn’t just a neighborhood deli and small country store, it is an iconic landmark and music cultural center. Richly tied with the musicians of the 60’s and going even further back elegant movie stars like Errol Flynn and Clara Bow, the LCCS stands mightily on Laurel Canyon Boulevard as you make your way on to Mulholland Drive for a scenic drive. Stop in for a few sandwiches or delicious dulce de leche cookies and marvel in the store’s feel good vibes and important part of music history. If you feel like lingering make your way down the wooden steps for a Peace Pie at Pace, a neighborhood restaurant that’s been around since 1999 adding Italian charm to your grocery stop.  We have serious nostalgic ties to the country store and Pace and love saying hello when we’re in LA, you will too. The Laurel Canyon Country Store-2108 Laurel Canyon Blvd., (323) 654 8091 (Pace is located directly under the country store)

Downtown Los Angeles-People that visit Los Angeles are often quite surprised by how sprawled out the city is. There are so many wonderful and unique neighborhoods that everyone (including us) often gush about and of course many are coming to get a piece of Hollywood royalty, however DTLA merits its own respect and warrants your time. Very similar in our eyes to Charles Dickens’s, eccentric and haunted character, Ms. Havisham. Once quite grand and the 'belle of the ball,' DTLA was a lavish mecca for incredible architecture, featuring Victorian, Art Deco and modern skyscrapers. Everyone wanted to build here! It was the hub of the city and a large commodity and trading post. A few years ago you may have felt as though time had literally stopped in this part of LA. A shell of its former grander days. Downtown went through a massive heartbreak, getting hit especially hard during the recession. Just as poor, old Ms. Havisham was left humiliated, abandoned and to pither away in sad repentance of her former glory days so was the downtown district. Thankfully, it has seen a resurgence of new buildings, restaurants and shops as artists, visionaries, historians and business owners have worked to bring it back to life.  DTLA has blossomed into a part of town we happily visit for great culture, diversity and discovery. Don’t miss it when you’re in town, plan for it and make reservations at some of the hottest restaurants and hippest bars. Come on a Sunday and wander through Little Tokyo for good sushi and boutique shopping or browse The Grand Central Market and shop for fresh strawberries, avocados or delectable chocolates from Valerie Confections. You will find treasures in every corner and most certainly acquire several awesome Instagram photos. Downtown Los Angeles
