What We're Loving Right Now: Antioxidant Rich Beauty Drinks•

We are over the moon with beauty drinks at La Bella Figura. Fresh healthy drinks and juices boost your complexion and restore alkalinity to balance your system. Plus, a combination of minerals and vitamins aid to hydrate your cells and keep skin supple. Lately, we've been all about drinking healthy drinks in the afternoon instead of our usual cafe lattes. I have been loving both cashew and almond milk, but it wasn't until my recent trip to LA that I discovered all the clever ways to blend these protein rich nut milks with skin loving antioxidants like turmeric, cardamom, cinnamon, raw honey, bee pollen...you get where I'm going here. If you aren't lucky enough to have a Pressed Juicery around the corner or a Moon Juice to hang out in (the people watching at Moon is super fun) you'll need to make these delicious beauty inspired drinks yourself. Oh, I know that caused you to moan and groan, but being busy beauty mavens we always look for recipes that are quick and easy to make and taste great. Promise. We'll share a recipe for our almond milk, but you can easily substitute cashews or macadamias and then add your antioxidant boosters. I am quite fond of my raw honey chocolate and cardamom almond milk. We hope you'll try a few recipes and please share with us if you come up with something truly amazing.
Raw Honey Chocolate Cardamom Almond Milk-Victoria's Recipe
1 cup raw almonds soaked in cold water overnight
3 1/2 cups filtered water
1 vanilla bean, chopped
1 tablespoon raw honey (manuka honey adds a richer flavor and more enzymes)
1 tablespoon raw cacao powder (not Hershey's, but the real stuff)
1/4 teaspoon cardamom (you can also use cinnamon or both, but then use half and half)
pinch of fine sea salt
Drain almonds and add the chopped vanilla in a blender with the filtered water. Blend for one and half minutes. Place cheesecloth over a large clean bowl and pour the almond milk mixture through the cheesecloth making sure to catch the almonds in the cloth and pressing the clear milk into the bowl. Squeeze the milk through the almonds and set the almond mixture aside. Once you have all the milk in the bowl, rinse the blender clean and add the milk back in. Add the raw honey, cocoa powder, cardamom, and sea salt and blend for one more minute. Pour into a glass bottle or mason jar and store in the fridge. This raw and delicious almond milk will keep for three days.
*This almond milk is unpasteurized so do not give to babies or people with very weak immune systems.
Try adding these antioxidant boosters to your nut milks:
Turmeric, great for the liver and as an anti inflammatory. Try during allergy season!
Fresh or ground ginger, cleansing and detoxifying.
Fresh Orange or Lemon Peels
Fresh Mint Leaves
